The Savonarola, or Dante chair (15th century Italy), known in Portugal as the Monchique Chair, reflects the Roman presence in the region. This table reinterprets the chair’s bench variant, adapting its proportions to create a 40 × 40 cm side table. The traditional supporting base frame has been removed, resulting in a lighter and more contemporary piece. Its refined geometry and visual rhythm preserve the essence of the original form while giving it a renewed sense of simplicity, portability, and everyday functionality.
